REMINDER: Marshall Speaker Event - Greg Jackson!

When: 6th Feb, 18:30-20:00

Where: Palmerston Room, St John’s College

The Marshall Society are honoured to announce that Greg Jackson, a Cambridge Alumni and the current CEO of Octopus Energy Group, will be joining us this Thursday at 18:30 to share his journey of founding and transforming the startup into the billion-dollar global energy and technology company that it is today.

🌟 Who is Greg Jackson?

Having studied Economics at Pembroke College Cambridge, Mr Jackson went on to found, angel invest into, and grow companies in various sectors currently defining the UK economy.

Most notably, Mr Jackson is the founder and CEO of Octopus Energy Group, the UK’s largest and most awarded electricity supplier, pioneering affordable and green energy systems globally.

Despite the extraordinarily high barriers to entry in the energy market, the company has managed to grow to a current value of $9 billion, serving almost 8.5 million clients globally across 27 countries. The group currently operates a £7 billion portfolio of renewable energy assets.

Being a widely successful founder and lifelong investor, some of Mr Jackson’s other companies include:

  • Zopa - the world’s first peer-to-peer lending platform

  • Xlinks - building the world’s largest subsea cable to import renewable energy from Morocco into the UK

  • Kraken - automating much of the energy supply chain, now contracted to serve over 54 million accounts across the globe.

🌟 What will the talk be about?

The evening will include an auto-biographical introduction given by Greg Jackson, detailing his experiences, approaches to venture building and angel investing, the challenges he faced, and how he rose above them to revolutionise the UK’s energy market. Mr Jackson will bring a unique insight into the energy industry, particularly in the context of green energy, with Octopus Energy being renowned for driving the tech-enabled green energy transition.
